Srinagar, Oct 31 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday informed the Assembly that the proposal for enhancement of monthly cash assistance to Kashmiri Migrants has been submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), while also detailing the status of migrant housing and compassionate appointments under the PM Package. Responding to a question raised by CPI(M) MLA M Y Tarigami, the government, per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said registered Kashmiri Migrants currently receive relief in the form of free ration—9 kg rice per soul, 2 kg atta per soul, and 1 kg sugar per family—along with a monthly cash assistance of Rs 3,250 per person, subject to a family cap of Rs 13,000. “The proposal for enhancement of monthly cash assistance to registered Kashmiri/Jammu migrants has been submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs for consideration,” the government stated. 897 provisional registration cases under scrutiny on delays in disposal of 897 cases of provisionally registered migrants, the government said screening committees have examined 1,263 cases so far, clearing 351, while action is pending in cases awaiting CID/DM reports. The government added that 239 cases remain undecided due to lack of required security reports and will be addressed once reports are received. Jagti Flats to Be Repaired On the condition of residential flats at Jagti Township: The government confirmed repairs are under consideration, with a Detailed Project Report (DPR) prepared for urgent renovation works amounting to Rs 8,490.15 lakh, of which Rs 6,932.85 lakh is earmarked for TRT Jagti, Nagrota. 6000 Quarters for PM Package Employees: The government said construction of 6,000 transit accommodations for PM Package employees is underway. Till date, 1,248 flats have been completed, while 1,904 more were finished during FY 2024–25. An additional 584 flats are expected to be completed this fiscal, taking the total to 3,736 completed units. Remaining flats are under construction across various districts including Bandipora, Baramulla, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Budgam, Srinagar, Shopian, Pulwama, Anantnag and Kulgam. Compassionate Appointment Cases: The government said amendments have been made in the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme 2022 to cover PM Package employees regarding compassionate appointments. Several cases under SRO-43 and RAS remain under process, with departments directed to expedite pending files—(KNO)
